Most of these paintings are of the coastline around Courtown, Co. Wexford, and some are from Kerry.
I often think landscapes are broken by the horizon, and the sky becomes just a background to the rest of the painting. However if you look at the sky you’ll see its full of movement and colour, and often amazing shapes that last a few moments.
In this series I want to try and capture the life of the sky and make the whole picture fit together. This leads to experimenting with shapes; avoinding straight lines and curving the land around the sea and the sky so that the distinction between them becomes blurred and the eye naturally moves around the whole picture.
